What is ISDN?

Network Architecture

'Integrated Services Digital Network' was
invented by CCITT Study Group XI in 1971.
This came from a need to carry digitised voice telephony, data and fax channels to customers.

There are essentially two ISDN categories:

1.  Narrowband (e.g. BRA and PRA), and

2.  Broadband.
