What is DSL? Digital Subscriber Line technology is all about squeezing more out of exisiting copper telephone circuits. DSL can provide more capacity (bandwidth) on exisiting telephone lines and is a cheaper alternative to installing ISDN or replacing them with say fibre optic cable. There is more than one version of DSL, and each employ a different signalling and modulation scheme to provide a balance between the bandwidth and transmission distance.
